Your Business Profile is a core business-information source in Google
Google lets verified businesses manage details such as address, service area, phone number, category, hours and photos. Those details can appear across Google Search and Maps.
For local businesses, that makes the profile an important part of the same digital presence as the website—not a separate afterthought.
What to keep current
- Primary and additional categories that actually fit the business.
- Correct phone number and website.
- Accurate hours.
- Storefront address or service area, depending on the business model.
- Services and relevant business information.
- Current, high-quality photos.
Your website still matters
A Business Profile does not replace a good website. Your site can explain services in depth, publish original content, show real examples, answer questions and give customers clear ways to contact or book with you.
The strongest local presence usually comes from accurate business data plus a useful, technically sound website—not from choosing one or the other.
Think consistency, not tricks
If your website says one thing and your profile says another, fix the inconsistency. If your services changed, update both. If your photos are years old, refresh them. Those are boring actions compared with “AI hacks,” but they are the kind of durable work Google itself recommends.
